No, the title of this article is not a joke. Yes, there is actually a warrant for arrest out for former President Donald Trump.

However, if you are a Democrat or just a Never Trumper who got a bit too excited when you read that, there is reason for you to hold back any squeals of glee or applause.

Why?

Well, because another nation has issued the warrant, more specifically, one we are not necessarily on good terms with. And even if we were, it’s not likely the warrant will ever amount to much.

So let’s get into the details a bit.

First of all, it’s important to know that the government of Iraq has issued the warrant of arrest. According to Kurdistan 24, a Kurdish news agency located in Erbil, Iraq, the nation’s highest court issued the warrant on Thursday.

For what?

Well, according to OilPrice.com, Trump committed premeditated murder.

Whose?

Former Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. You might remember that back in January 2020, while Trump was President, he ordered an air strike on the general and his compound after he had authorized an attack on the US embassy in Iraq.

For this, the Iraqi court finds Trump guilty of premeditated murder and asks that he be handed over for conviction and sentencing. This process “carries the death penalty,” according to OilPrice.com.

Of course, as we all know, there’s at least one major problem with the warrant. What Trump did or ordered cannot be considered murder, as it was clearly an act of war. He called for the killing of a military combatant in a warzone and during a war.

Additionally, the Pentagon believed that Soleimani what also in the process of planning a number of other attacks on US military members located within the Middle East at the time.

And so a drone strike was called for, authorized, and carried out – all with the correct military oversight.

Naturally, Iran’s viewpoint was a bit different. In their anger and search for revenge, they quickly sent a volley of missiles onto an American airbase in the region. But that only proves that war and not murder were at hand.

Now, here we are a full three years later, and Iraq is issuing an arrest warrant for a casualty of war.

As the Associated Press noted, a similar warrant was also issued in 2021 while Trump still held office. And that brings us to another major issue with the warrant – namely, that it will never amount to anything.

Clearly, even though just about every Democrat in the nation would have likely wanted to see Trump jailed or worse, Trump was not handed over to the Iraqis. Hell, even after he lost his title as President shortly thereafter, that issue held no fear for him.

And it shouldn’t now.

The main reason is that no one in their right mind, not even those with Trump Derangement System, would turn over a former or sitting president to be prosecuted by another nation, let alone that would no doubt kill him.

It just isn’t going to happen. A good number might dislike Trump. Some may even hate him. But to turn him over would essentially be the ultimate act of traitors and treason, an act that would directly attack American sovereignty.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you might be a bit surprised by this warrant. I mean, Iran, not Iraq, is the nation we usually have issues with. Besides, if you didn’t get confused by the similar nations’ names, the warrant was issued by Iraq but for something that happened in Iran and to an Iranian.

So why is Iraq getting involved? After all, they are a sovereign and independent nation now, thanks in large part to the United States’ help both with military aid and financial assistance. If not for our help, there’s a near certainty that Iraq would not be what they are today.

Someone in Iraq’s highest court seems to have forgotten this. Unfortunately, they also seemed to have forgotten their alliance with the US. And instead, they are siding with known terrorists.

Gee, I wonder where this will get them…
