A group of “gay furry hackers” say they took two gigabytes of information from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. The hackers, known as SiegedSec, took and shared the data because they were upset about the think tank’s plans called ‘Project 2025’. This project claims to have ideas for new laws that would start right after Donald Trump became president.
On July 2, SiegedSec acquired data covering information from 2007 to November 2022, as reported by CyberScoop. The hack is connected to The Daily Signal, a conservative media site associated with the Heritage Foundation. A member of SiegedSec named “vio” told CyberScoop that their group hacked to reveal “who supports Heritage.” The data includes personal details like full names, email addresses, passwords, and usernames of individuals who interacted with Heritage, including US government email addresses.
SiegedSec says the attack is part of their “OpTransRights” effort, which involves targeting government websites opposed to abortion and transgender rights. This is the second time the Heritage Foundation has been attacked this year, with the first forcing them to close their network in April.
According to the Daily Dot, this latest data breach seems to have originated from the Daily Signal, a media site linked to Heritage. The site credits Mike Howell as an investigative writer. Howell, who previously worked for the Trump administration in Homeland Security, now leads Heritage’s Oversight Project. This project focuses on issues like border security, elections, and China’s increased influence in the U.S.
Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, said that the conservative movement in America is experiencing what he calls the second American Revolution.
But leftists point out that the “disturbing” document contains the blueprints for a “White House more friendly to the right.” Hysterical claims from Democrats suggest that Trump will use the military against the opposition. Democrats also lament that Project 2025 seeks to remove them from leadership positions.
Perhaps most laughable are the claims from Democrats that Trump plans to weaponize governmental agencies against them. Media figures like MSNBC’s Racheal Maddow and The View’s Joy Behar are cashing in on the hype. They join other liberal figureheads, including those in leadership, in claiming that Trump will target them.
Vio explained that their hacker group aimed to send a message by revealing who supports the Heritage Foundation. They stressed they weren’t after money or fame but strongly opposed Project 2025 and what the Heritage Foundation stands for.
Howell said they were trying to find out who was in SiegedSec. He also made fun of “closeted furries.”
As the exchange grew even more heated, Howell implied that wearing animal costumes for sexual purposes was deviant. Vio mocked Howell for his reaction and hinted at sharing their conversation online. Howell responded by encouraging them to spread it widely.
He further compared furry culture to bestiality, which he condemned as sinful. This prompted vio to inexplicably ask his opinion on “vore,” a fetish involving creatures or people eating each other. A screenshot of this exchange was shared on Twitter, prompting Howell to respond with lyrics from Eminem’s song “The Way I Am.”
Later, Howell found out from the Daily Dot’s report that vio had decided to quit cybercrime. The group agreed to disband SiegedSec to avoid FBI attention. Howell celebrated this news as a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL VICTORY” on Twitter, claiming he had forced the Gay Furry Hackers to disband.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said he knows nothing about Project 2025. He mentioned disagreeing with some of their ideas and finding some “absurd and terrible.” He said he wishes them luck with whatever they do. He has denied any desire to act on their suggestions.
Project 2025 has become a Democrat talking point ahead of the 2024 elections, despite former President Trump’s denial of it. Trump recently laid out his agenda. It was far more practical than Democrats wanted it to be, so they refused to abandon the lie about Project 2025.
Democrats can count on support from illegal immigrants, over-the-top LGBTQ+ activists, and now, furries. It’s quite a team.
