Even RFK Jr. Defends Trump

You might think that just about everyone on the political left, and certainly those running for president in 2024, would be excited that Donald Trump just got banned from the Colorado ballot. But that’s certainly not the case for left-wing leaning independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

If you haven’t heard, four liberal-appointed Colorado Supreme Court justices voted on Tuesday that Trump should be barred from having his name on their state’s 2024 ballot. Why? Well, of course, they are claiming the 14th.

Per section 3 of the 14th amendment, no one who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” or aided it, in Trump’s case, can be allowed to run for office. Naturally, these justices are of the mind that Trump is to blame for the “incursion” at the capital on January 6, 2021.

And so, despite never having been convicted, let alone charged with insurrection, Trump has been banned from Colorado’s ballot.

And RFK Jr. is not happy about it.

As he stated on social media shortly after the ban announcement, “Trump blocked from the ballot in Colorado. When a court in another country disqualifies an opposition candidate from running, we say, ‘That’s not a real democracy.’ Now it’s happening here.”

He continued that it should be “voters” that choose who should be our leader and who should be allowed to run for office, “not the courts!”

And the fact that it is, in this case, means Americans, as well as Trump, are being deprived of their rights.

He points out that, as I mentioned, Trump hasn’t even been charged with insurrection. And yet, that is the very thing being used against him in this instance. He wasn’t even given a trial or chance to speak for himself before these clearly partisan justices decided on a ruling.

As RKF Jr. said, “When any candidate is deprived of his right to run, the American people are deprived of their right to choose.”

Lastly, he noted that if this decision is allowed to stand, his supporters will never “accept the result. This country will become ungovernable.”

And then, we very well may have a real insurrection on our hands.
