The Democrat Party has come to the conclusion that they no longer have to use their Black Lives Matter shock troops to tear down American statues. Why bother when they can just have Joe Biden order it done? The Biden regime has ordered a statue of William Penn to be removed from a park in the state that is named for William Penn.
Welcome Park in Philadelphia is the location of a really nice statue of William Penn. The park is in the location of Penn’s historic home. The National Park Service, operating under its orders from the Biden White House, is going to “rehabilitate Welcome Park to provide a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors.”
Uh oh. We know what that means.
The Biden regime has decided that rather than keep William Penn’s historic home as the centerpiece of Welcome Park, it’s going to put up some big display to honor the Haudenosaunee, the Delaware Nation, the Delaware Tribe of Indians, the Shawnee Tribe, and the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma instead. The statue of the dead white guy has to go.
It’s not as if William Penn was some conqueror of the Indians when he came to Pennsylvania. He was a peace-loving Quaker, and according to all historical accounts, he treated all the local native tribes with reverence. He’s a truly important colonial figure since the State of Pennsylvania is named after him.
When Penn settled the area near Philadelphia, he wrote a Charter of Privileges for all residents—colonists and Native Americans—in which he guaranteed religious liberty and civil freedoms for everyone. Much of the US Constitution and the First Amendment were later written based on the precepts of Penn’s Charter.
And that, of course, is why the communists in the Biden regime are removing William Penn’s statue.
