Science is a hard thing to grasp for liberals. And yet, many Hollywood elitists are a part of the Scientology religion that is, in fact, rooted in science.
Here’s the thing. Somewhere along the line, Hollywood elitists like Alyssa Milano, Demi Lovato, Mark Ruffalo, and others believe that they are above the American people. They don’t just get to vote like the rest of us – they get to make demands of what the government does and what big tech is supposed to do in order to censor us little people.
Their latest demand: censor speech that goes against the transgender movement.
Let’s be clear about this. They are demanding that big tech takes away our 1st Amendment freedom of speech rights because we want to support science. You know – the science that says a person is born with a biological sex, and that can’t change regardless of what a person wants to identify as.
They don’t like the issue of “misgendering” when you call a he a she. And they really don’t like “deadnaming,” such as when you call a person by their birth name as opposed to their preferred name.
A letter was drafted by the Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD (formerly the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to the CEOs of social media platforms. It was signed by over 250 celebrities across film, music, and other “celebrity” driven industries.
One statement within the letter:
“Targeted misgendering and deadnaming of trans and nonbinary people is a widespread mode of hate speech across all platforms, utilized to bully and harass prominent public figures while simultaneously expressing hatred and contempt.”
The letter also goes on to discuss the “disinformation” that surrounds many of the trans issues, including healthcare that is “medically necessary.”
We already know that there is a lot of disinformation out there – including how the healthcare is not “medically necessary,” especially for those under the age of 18 and who are still going through puberty.
We saw what censoring during COVID did. There was more misinformation than ever. And the Democrats tried to control ALL the messaging, despite most of it being wrong.
The reality is that bullying happens all the time – even without the trans argument. And most of those under the age of 18 who are suddenly deciding to be trans or nonbinary are doing so because of peer pressure. It’s the “cool” thing to do, in case you didn’t know.
We’ll leave you with this last bit of “truth” from the letter:
“Despite the fact that every leading medical and psychological association affirms the safety and necessity of gender affirming healthcare for trans people, including youth, inflammatory disinformation falsely asserting that this healthcare is dangerous is allowed to fester on your platforms because it drives clicks and profit.”
Yeah, we’re not buying that. Plenty of medical and psychological associations are saying that gender affirmation can be extremely dangerous.
When will Hollywood realize that they don’t get to make demands? It might be time to remind them that freedom of speech is a right that they don’t get to take away just because they’re gender-confused.
